Top Gear’s Paddy McGuinness didn’t hold back as he pointed out signs of Freddie Flintoff’s ‘midlife’ crisis in tonight’s final episode of the series.
In an exclusive clip ahead of this evening’s chapter and the upcoming tribute to Sabine Schmitz, the presenter took aim at his fellow co-host, much to the delight of Chris Harris, who fell about laughing.
‘Lads, I was looking online at tell-tale signs of a midlife crisis and they had a list,’ Paddy shared. ‘Do you want me to run through ‘em? See if we tick any of those boxes?’
Getting to go-ahead from Chris, Paddy started: ‘Number one, getting an earring.’
The camera then panned to Freddie, who was repping a jewel in his left ear.
‘I used to have it when I was younger,’ Freddie hit back. ‘I’m just shaking it up a little.’

‘Number two, buying an expensive bicycle,’ Paddy continued, prompting Chris to quip: ‘Fred, this isn’t looking good for you at all!’
Jumping on the defence, Freddie replied: ‘Alright. I have got a few bicycles in my garage.’

‘Right, let’s forget the earring and the expensive bikes, let’s go to number three on the list – growing your hair long,’ Paddy continued.
But that was a step too far for Freddie.
‘I’m smelling a rat here,’ he flipped. ‘You’ve not even looked on the internet!’
Tonight’s episode sees the boys get to work in proving there’s no such thing as a midlife crisis car. Instead, they believe the correct term is the midlife ‘opportunity’ car, also known as a car bought by men of a certain age to make them feel good about themselves.
In a bid to rebrand this most denigrated species of car, the presenters each buy themselves a definitely-not-at-all-tragic midlife ‘opportunity’ for a series of challenges.
One of which, inevitably, involves lycra. And jetskis.
