There’s a new Top Gear spin-off show in the works, with The Stig set to host a new dating show for the BBC set around a race track.
The show – titled Speed Dating with The Stig – will see singletons attempt to enjoy a first date while being driven around the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold, Surrey.
The Stig, who famously stays mute and never reveals their identity on the BBC show, will step up to present the new series – although exactly how the host will communicate with guests, we’re not sure.
People are reportedly currently being sought by the broadcaster to take part in the series, which is due to air online.
A spokesperson for BBC Studios told Metro.co.uk: ‘BBC Studios Productions has filmed a light-hearted series for Top Gear’s digital channels that sees single petrolheads attempting to enjoy a first date in the back seat of a saloon car driven at speed by Top Gear’s the Stig.
‘Speed Dating With The Stig will debut later this year.’
There will be 10 instalments of Speed Dating with The Stig for viewers to look out for, each lasting eight minutes.
A plea for contestants reads: ‘Are you a single petrol head looking for love? Is the Top Gear Test Track your idea of the perfect first date?
‘Apply now for the chance to meet your motoring match in an all-new digital web series. Send a video telling us about yourself, the kind of cars you love and what your car says about you.’
Top Gear presenters Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris will not be taking part in the upcoming show.
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that the BBC is set to broadcast a special Top Gear tribute to Sabine Schmitz, who died aged 51.
Top Gear airs on Sundays at 8pm on BBC One.
