The Only Way Is Essex bosses have been accused of acting ‘irresponsibly after 10 cast members were axed from the show.
It was revealed in July that Towie was returning to Essex ‘to follow a smaller group od cast members’ in an Instagram post.
The cast members axed from the ITVBe show include Courtney Green, Chloe Meadows, Ella Rae Wise, Clelia Theodorou, Harry Lee and Harry Derbidge.
Now, according to a talent manager, some of the show’s cast was sacked in a hastily arranged meeting which left them ‘distraught’.
‘It has been a challenging two years for most people financially, this was their career and Towie effectively sacked a bunch of youngsters from their jobs and for what reason?’ the source told MailOnline.
‘There was no problem with anyone on the show, they could have given them another six months or the chance to look for other opportunities, but to just fire them all overnight was irresponsible.
‘The cast believed they were meeting producers for a catch-up ahead of filming resuming in August, so everyone was ready and excited with their updates – but without warning they were booted off the show,’ they added.
A Towie spokesperson responded to the accusations, telling Metro.co.uk: ‘As always the welfare of past and present Towie cast is of paramount importance to us and we continue to offer our robust welfare and psychological support.
‘In addition to this, we are providing access to a number of advisory services to offer further support including; financial management training, social media management, career advice and life coaching.’
Remaining on the show will be veterans Pete Wicks, Chloe Sims and her sisters Frankie and Demi alongside James Lock, Pete Wicks and Amber Turner.
Original cast member Amy Childs, who rejoined the series is 2020, also has her place on the show guaranteed.
Chloe Brockett, now the only remaining signing from the 2019 recasting, is also still going to appear on Towie.
