Trigger Point star Adrian Lester did some damage control after revealing information surrounding his character an tweet that’s been deleted.

The 53-year-old actor plays Joel Nutkins in the explosive ITV drama, which focuses on counter-terrorism policing and the deadly reality of working on the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad.

Sunday’s final scene saw Joel’s life in danger as he was blown up by an explosive after noticing a bomb hidden in a nearby van.

Fans have a couple of days to see what happens to Joel, however it seemed like Adrian might’ve spoiled it for a few in a tweet that has now been deleted.

However, he quickly removed the post and wrote: ‘Ahem… Seems my last might have been a little “too soon”.’

Writer Jed Mercurio, who is the mastermind behind the BBC drama Line Of Duty, also produces the ITV show, and viewers are aware of his tendency to kill of big names in the other shows he’s worked on.

Vicky McClure leads the star-studded cast (Picture: ITV)

Actress Vicky McClure (Line of Duty, This is England ’86) stars as bomb disposal operative Lana Washington.

Speaking about Vicky and Adrian’s respective characters, writer Daniel Brierley said: ‘Lana is the centre of the story for me, she’s real, vibrant and complicated.

‘She really fits in with the central paradox of the story, how do you train yourself to be this cool in the face of danger and then survive in the real world and have relationships?

‘For me you can’t really have Lana without having Joel, they are part of a double act. He’s the only one who sees all the sides of her – she never has to pretend around him, and he gets her.

‘They have this symbiotic relationship and they both complete the other. So, I couldn’t have Lana, who is raw, vulnerable and wears her heart on her sleeve, without having a character like Joel who is the opposite.’

Trigger Point continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
