A celebrity from one of the world’s most popular television series has responded after a troll wrote them a vile racial comment on social media.
Season 2 of House of the Dragon, the critically praised Game of Thrones spinoff series, will air in June of this year.
The prequel will continue to chronicle the conflict between competing sections of the Targaryen dynasty as erstwhile childhood best friends Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) face off against each other with fire-breathing dragons in an attempt to capture the Iron Throne.
Bethany Antonia stars as Baela Targaryen, the daughter of Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) and Laena Velaryon (Nanna Blondell).
The teaser for the second season of House of the Dragon debuted last month and has already received millions of views on YouTube.
In an Instagram Story post, Bethany said that after the teaser was out, she received a nasty comment in her DMs from a racist troll.
In the message, which she screenshotted, the person called her the N-word, before saying that the 26-year-old looked ‘like a piece of s**t’.
The repulsive message continued: ‘It’s a miracle they even included you in the trailer. But we don’t care. I hope you accidentally die on set.’
In response to the show of racism, Bethany wrote on top of the screenshot: ‘Wait till they find out I’m gay too…’
Numerous followers have left supportive remarks in the comments area of her most recent Instagram photo.
‘Hi coming on here to counteract the hate you’re getting in your dms!! hope you’re well + you’re the prettiest <3,’ wrote one fan called Polly.
‘We love you Bethany! I’m sorry for the DMs you’ve gotten but you are so beautiful and talented and that person is just pathetic,’ added Sophia.
Jamila commented: ‘OUR FIERCE, INCREDIBLE, BRAVE, BEAUTIFUL BAELA TARGARYENNNN ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥.’
‘You are so naturally pretty!!! I’m sorry humans can be so vile ❤️,’ Amy also said.
Bethany has appeared in Doctors and Stath Lets Flats before landing the major part of Margot in the BBC adolescent drama Get Even.
She participated in the Netflix drama Get Close and co-starred with Helena Bonham Carter in the ITV biographical miniseries Nolly last year.
House of the Dragon season 2 is set to premiere on June 16 2024.
