It’s been confirmed that the hit comedy show Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps will be returning to our screens after 10 years – and that’s something we’ll raise a glass to.

Show creator Susan Nickson said she is currently in talks with the BBC and explained that Will Mellor and Ralf Little, who played Gaz Wilkinson and Jonny Keogh, are also on board.

It will be interesting to see what exactly they have in mind for the show, as Jonny was killed off in the original series.

The programme ran for a decade and, according to The Sun, Susan is waiting for the BBC to start the reboot of the much-loved show.

She explained that at the moment, the cogs of the BBC machine are moving ‘extremely slowly’.

‘So basically what you’ve got, it’s me, Will, Ralf and all three of us are just going “yeah, we’re here, we’ll do it” and the BBC are going “ah brilliant, yeah let’s do it” and I’m sort of sat here going “ok, when?” and they do “well, we don’t know”,’ Susan said.

‘So, what we’ve got is a corporation that has no idea.’

The show has been off-air since 2011, and also starred the likes of Sheridan Smith, Kathryn Drysdale and Natalie Casey.

Susan revealed that she has already planned out the new series, saying it would focus on Will’s character Gaz Wilkinson and Ralf’s Jonny Keogh.

The friends would be navigating a world since the Time’s Up movement, where toxic masculinity is called out. She pictures the ‘two ageing working-class geezers’ not fully understanding that some men treat women badly.

‘I want to see the comforting story of people like Gaz and Jonny, who live in a world where bad guys don’t exist. I want them to acknowledge the bad guys are out there though, but I don’t want Gaz and Jonny to be them,’ she said.

Speaking on the Drama School Dropout podcast, Susan said she was unsure whether Sheridan Smith, who played Janet Keogh, would be returning to the sitcom.

This comes after Will said he was unsure whether a cast reunion special would be possible. While he is still in regular contact with co-stars Ralf and Natalie, he claimed Sheridan had never responded when he reached out to, so he stopped trying.

He added: ‘I’ve not seen Sheridan or spoke to Sheridan in four years. I rang her for a while and just nothing, so I don’t know her anymore.

‘I wish her all the best, but she hasn’t called me in years.’
