After drip-feeding fans glimpses of the cast in season 3, The Umbrella Academy has finally unveiled brand new first look pictures, featuring the debut of Euphoria’s Ashtray, Javon Walton.
The upcoming new episodes of the Netflix superhero series will see the returning Hargreeves siblings go up against the Sparrow Academy, another version of the academy from a different reality to their own.
The Sparrow Academy – who were also raised by their adopted father Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) – consist of new characters, with the exception of Ben (Justin H Min), who died as a teenager in the original timeline.
Viktor (Elliot Page), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Luther (Tom Hopper) and Diego (David Castañeda) have a new threat on their hands, as season three will see them ‘dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe’… which they may have caused.
Fans were ecstatic for new snapshots of what they can expect in the show when it returns next month, sparking speculation over who Javon could be playing, as his character is yet to be named.
In the picture of the 15-year-old actor, he can be seen sitting on a tabletop next to a rotary dial phone, wearing jeans, a black top and a red shirt.
While at first glance it looks like he could be sitting in a library of sorts, or perhaps the foyer of the heavily-teased Hotel Oblivion, Netflix aren’t giving much away.
Another photo shows Luther and Viktor standing next to each other, both looking perplexed while looking at something off camera.
Meanwhile, one shot sees Viktor walking down the street with Allison, as an extremely concerned expression dawns on his sister’s face.
While Ben was a very friendly and sympathetic character previously in the show, with Klaus being the only one able to see his dead sibling, as a member of the Sparrow Academy, he appears to pose somewhat of a threat to the Umbrella Academy.
He’s depicted in costume with his adopted siblings, all of them donning the Sparrow Academy’s signature blood red costumes, while another picture sees him staring defiantly down the camera lens, seemingly ready for action.
In the synopsis for The Umbrella Academy season three, it explains that after the group prevented a doomsday from happening in 1963, they returned to their present day to find their reality drastically different to what they were expecting.
‘Enter the Sparrow Academy. Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns,’ it states.
However, despite butting heads, the Umbrella Academy must turn to the Sparrow Academy for assistance ‘to help them put right what their arrival made wrong’.
The Umbrella Academy season three drops on June 22 on Netflix.
