Vanessa Feltz has become the second TalkTV anchor to announce her resignation, after Piers Morgan‘s surprise retirement earlier this year.
The 59-year-old Uncensored anchor stated in February that he will leave the channel after two years to focus on his YouTube channel.
He stated that he no longer wanted to be a’slave to the schedule’ and wished to free himself from the ‘unnecessary straitjacket’ of television.
Vanessa, 62, is taking a’step back’ as TalkTV prepares to go off air and online in the summer.
She said: ‘I’ve had the most fabulous two years at TalkTV.
‘It’s been a joy and a revelation to work on a fledgling station.
‘Among many experiences, it was my honour to break the news of the passing of Her Majesty, the Queen to viewers and broadcast live throughout that momentous time.
‘As TalkTV steps back from linear TV, it’s time for me to also step back and focus on my other commitments and new projects ahead.’
Scott Taunton, EVP President of Broadcast for News UK, added in the statement: ‘Vanessa is a unique broadcaster and has made a unique contribution to TalkTV over the last two years. She steps back with our thanks and best wishes.’
Jeremy Kyle will headline Vanessa’s drivetime slot four days a week, while The Talk with Sharon Osbourne looks to be one of the shows absent from the spring schedule.
In addition to reporting on the late Queen’s death, Vanessa responded live to her former ITV co-star Phillip Schofield‘s departure when his scandal surfaced, and she apologised on her TalkTV show following controversy over her statements regarding celiac disease.
The TV host was seen only yesterday at a London screening of Anne Hathaway’s romcom The Idea of You.
As she swirled in front of the cameras, she smiled and looked lovely in a purple gown and dazzling sandals.
Vanessa, the star of Celebs Go Dating, will leave BBC Radio 2 and Radio London in 2022.
She presented the Breakfast Show, which broadcast on both stations, after hosting Radio London for over two decades, and announced her resignation while fighting back tears on air.
Following Ken Bruce’s retirement from his radio programme last year, Vanessa discussed her own departure, claiming she experienced ageism while at the BBC.
‘Think of all the people that have left,’ she continued, listing the ‘stellar list of biggest stars with the hugest ratings who have walked away.’
‘Why would you do that from something that is so successful?’
