Vernon Kay will welcome his wife Tess Daly onto the This Morning sofa on Thursday morning, but he couldn’t help but use the opportunity beforehand to make a very topical joke using her name.
But there will be an extra special guest for Vernon on the upcoming show, in the form of his famous wife Tess.
She’ll be on the show ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing final to discuss the remaining three couples.
A voiceover proclaimed: ‘Tomorrow, in a This Morning exclusive, queen of Saturday night Tess Daly joins husband Vernon on the This Morning sofa – one of TV’s most beloved couples.
‘Tess will reveal the latest Strictly shenanigans ahead of this weekend’s final and discuss the favourites to lift the famous Glitterball trophy.’
Vernon quickly reacted to the announcement and said: ‘Yay, Christmas is coming!
‘That’s what you’ve got to do into the build-up to Christmas – Tess Daly!’ he joked, in reference to the current Covid pandemic requiring people to routinely test for the virus.
Geddit? Tess Daly? Test daily? Solid bants, Vernon.
‘Yes, there you go,’ Rochelle replied. ‘I’m so pleased that she’s coming in tomorrow.’
However, Vernon’s quip didn’t seem to go down so well with everyone, as he told viewers he had the backstage crew confused in his ear.
He said: ‘Eh, come on Gallery in my ear! Took them a while saying, “Tess Daly? Oh, I get it!”’
This weekend will see one of the remaining three couples crowned the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2021.
It’s currently Rose who’s in poll position to win alongside Giovanni Pernice, at 1/7 odds according to bookmakers Ladbrokes.
With those odds, the duo are the shortest priced favourites ever.
AJ is chalked up at 7/1 to cause an upset, while John is the outsider of the trio at 16/1.
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: ‘Although the judges’ scores may make it the closest final ever, both bookies and punters strongly disagree and think Rose and Giovanni will be crowned Strictly winners this weekend.’
But who will be the ones who end up becoming the latest Strictly champions on Saturday night?
