TV vet Dr Scott Miller told one This Morning viewer to hang up immediately and to phone her local practice over fears that her dog might be seriously ill.
Joining Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on the sofa on Monday, Dr Scott was on hand to answer viewer calls about their pet’s health concerns.
Eamonn went on to introduce one viewer called Laura, who was worried about her dog’s swollen tummy.
‘You have a labrador, Lacy,’ Eamonn explained. ‘Lacy’s nine years of age. But you’re worried about Lacy’s tummy. Tell Dr Scott why.’
‘She’s got a swollen tummy and it’s just getting worse,’ Laura told Dr Scott.
‘She keeps bringing back water or bile.’
A very concerned Dr Scott went on to question why Laura was ringing the show, instead of her vet.
He told her: ‘First thing I would say, I don’t know why you’re calling a TV show when there’s this sort of problem occuring.
‘That is really, really worrying right there. I’m so glad you called me, but your local vet will really want to hear from you because that’s quite a concerning finding.
‘It could be a twisted stomach, it could be something going on in her abdomen.’
‘So, I would suggest, lots of love to you, lots of love to the dog, put the phone down and call your vet straight away,’ he added.
This Morning viewers were also frustrated by the call, with many agreeing with Dr Scott’s suggestion to call the vet immediately.
One tweeted: ‘Why call a TV show .. what is the matter with people , if your dog is that poorly phone the vets.’
Another commented: ‘Well said that vet. Wtf are you phoning This Morning.’
‘Well said Dr Scott. Get her to a vet,’ one added.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
