Viewers thought James Martin had a ‘breakdown’ during his ITV cooking show Saturday Morning after he created a bizarre sandwich from Christmas leftovers.
For the first time ever, the celebrity chef invited viewers to his house to hold a Christmas Day special cooking show on ITV.
In a repeat, which aired on Boxing Day, James did a demonstration on how to make the most of all your Christmas leftovers.
The ingredients he used were a loaf of bread and leftover meats including turkey, bacon, sa https://videos.metro.co.uk/video/met/2020/12/26/7828709679126852334/480x270_MP4_7828709679126852334.mp4 usages and ham.
‘You can use whatever you want for this, it doesn’t have to be turkey,’ he explained.
‘It can be meat, it can be fish, it can be veg, it can be anything you want.’
The 48-year-old began the recipe by making white sauce, before he sliced the loaf of bread (but not all the way through).
He then poured the white sauce over the loaf of bread, ‘dolloping the sauce in between each layer’.
To finish the dish, he topped it off with brie and other cheeses before whacking it in the oven for 20-25 minutes.
When he was cooked James added: ‘I think that is a great way to use your leftover Christmas lunch, far far better, although there’s nothing wrong with a curry.’
The TV chef’s leftovers concoction left viewers baffled as one tweeted: ‘James Martin is either having a breakdown or is drunk and got the munchies.’
Another tweeted: ‘James Martin has just had a breakdown on TV.’
One viewer tweeted: ‘Am I still drunk from yesterday or is James Martin really shoving every aspect of a Christmas dinner into sourdough and then covering it in a cheese sauce.’
While one added: ‘James Martin has either had a breakdown on TV or he’s desperately trying to break his contract.’
‘May have lost the plot here #jamesmartin,’ another said.
James Martin’s Saturday Morning is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
