Virgin River has been renewed by Netflix for a 10-episode third season, and we’re already looking forward to it.
The romantic drama, which is based on the popular book series by Robyn Carr, focuses on Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner and midwife who moves from Los Angeles to the remote California town of Virgin River following the death of her husband and unborn baby.
She later discovers that living in a smaller town is not all that it’s cracked up to be, while she also becomes romantically involved with bartender Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
The series has become a hit with Netflix viewers after season two hit the streaming service in November, racing up the trending chart to number three in the UK.
Fans have also been left in awe at many of the stunning landscapes that have appeared on our screens, and we certainly have to agree.
The Flash star Zibby Allen will be joining the cast for the upcoming season as Jack’s sister Brie, who is described to be a ‘smart, hard-charging, ballsy’ lawyer but she is also said to be ‘a whole lot of fun’.
Degrassi: The Next Generation actress Stacey Farber has also signed on to play Tara Anderson, the daughter of recurring character Lilly (Lynda Boyd).
The second season has left Jack’s future on the show uncertain, as Mel discovered him lying on the floor of the bar, after he suffered a suspected gunshot wound in the finale.
Speaking of the shocking moment, his actor Martin told TV Line: ‘Who on Earth would have done that? By the end of the season, there are a few candidates.
‘I always joke that it’s most likely Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley). It does pop into your mind!’
Martin added that the cliffhanger is a ‘nice, dramatic end to a season that leaves a lot of unanswered questions.
‘If we haven’t done it with our performances up to that point, [this mystery] will go some ways to keep people tuned in for season three.’
Seasons 1-2 of Virgin River are available to stream on Netflix.
