Sophie and Pete Sandiford are the hilarious brother and sister duo who first found fame on Gogglebox in 2017.
It’s obvious that comedy runs in the family, as it was previously revealed that the Blackpool pair are related to the Chuckle Brothers.
Many of Gogglebox’s other stars have interesting and unexpected day jobs – ranging from UKIP electoral candidates to IT teachers.
So, what do Sophie and Pete do for work? And is that what helps them afford such a lavish mug collection?
Here’s what you need to know.
What do Sophie and Pete from Gogglebox do for a living?
Unfortunately, the hilarious siblings don’t make a full-time living from us watching them watch TV.
When not on Gogglebox, 26-year-old new dad Pete has a job working in the insurance industry.
And in March 2021, his younger sister Sophie, 24, revealed that she’s been working as a florist.
In an episode of Gogglebox, Sophie showed off a pair of pink leather gardening gloves.
She explained to Pete that the gloves would be for ‘protecting her hands’ while removing leaves and thorns from roses and similar flowers.
It was great news for Sophie – who shared that she was sadly made redundant from her job as a shop window dresser at Debenhams in December 2020.
Debenhams department stores across the country closed as one of many high street casualties brought about by the pandemic.
Shortly after losing her job, Sophie was seen crying to her brother Pete on the show: ‘It’s just s*** for everybody. It’s going to get even worse; more people are going to lose their jobs and things like that. It’s just awful.’
Although losing your job is never nice, Sophie wrote on social media that she was ‘going with a smile’.
She captioned an Instagram snap: ‘We might be going but we are going with a smile #debenhams.’
You might be wondering why this popular pair even need to work outside of the show at all.
Most Gogglebox stars tend to keep their day jobs, as each family is only paid the same monthly allowance of £1,500.
One of the show’s insiders told The Sun that they are paid the allowance and it is then split between the family’s members at their own discretion.
The families do 12 hours of filming a week, but the hours are split across two six-hour shifts.
Do Sophie and Pete have any other siblings?
Another common musing about the Sandifords is: are Pete and Sophie the only siblings?
As it happens, there are two other Sandifords who we don’t see on the show: brother Harry and sister Lucy.
While we don’t see them on the sofa, the siblings all appear to be close. Sophie regularly posts Instagram snaps of the whole family having fun.
Gogglebox airs on Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
