Each episode of Only Murders In The Building season one featured the trio investigating possible suspects in the Tim Kono case, and while everyone speculated it was suicide, the three believed there was more to the story. At one point, Charles and Oliver even start to suspect Mabel herself!

As they find themselves invested in Tim’s case, they three decide to launch an Only Murders In The Building podcast while searching for evidence relating to the the case.

As the series unravels we discovered that Mabel knew Tim at one point. She grew up visiting The Arconia because her aunt had a place there, and she met Tim when they were young.

While breaking into Bunny’s apartment to look for clues, she told Charles that they called themselves The Hardy Boys after Tim saw Mabel was reading one of the books when they first met.

Eventually, Tim and Mabel’s circle grew into a group of four, and Mabel had flashbacks of one particular night with Tim, Zoe (Olivia Reis) and Oscar (Aaron Dominguez) that led to the dismantling of their friendship group.

In the intense season finale, the group finds out Jan (Amy Ryan) aka, Charles’ girlfriend killed Tim, after their secret love affair comes to light.

Jan discovered the emerald ring that Tim was tracking down to bring the Dimases to justice and assumed that he was cheating on her.

Consumed by jealousy, Jan drugged and shot Tim in such a way to make his death look like suicide.

Due to the success of their podcast, Jan attempted to poision Charles to eliminate the possibility of her being exposed as Tim’s murderer and also prepared to blow up the Arconia. But the trio end up stopping Jan, leading to her arrest.

Though Mabel, Charles, and Oliver have been threatened with eviction due to Oliver’s unpaid bills and the attention brought to the Arconia from the podcast, all was forgiven after the solved Tim’s case.

During their celebration party, Mabel went back to her apartment, while Charles and Oliver received an anonymous text asking them to leave the building immediately so they walked to Mabel’s room to alert her.
