The Umbrella Academy is back, with season 3 serving up even more time-bending madness as the sibling superhero group meet their match in the Sparrow Academy.

When the show began, viewers were introduced to the Hargreeves family, as eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) adopted seven babies from around the world born at exactly the same time with extraordinary abilities.

Fast-forward to the present day, and the adopted siblings – Vanya/Viktor (Elliot Page), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Diego (David Castañeda), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampan), Luther (Tom Hopper) and Five (Aidan Gallagher) – are all leading completely different lives, aside from their late brother Ben (Justin H Min).

At the end of season two, they travelled back from the 1960s to the present day after preventing an apocalyptic event – but their reality wasn’t quite the same as they remembered.

When they returned to their family home, they realised that an alternate reality had taken hold, one where Sir Reginald had adopted Ben once again alongside six completely different individuals, who formed the Sparrow Academy.

The new season will see Elliot introduced as Viktor (Picture: Christos Kalohoridis/Netflix)

‘Navigating challenges, losses, and surprises of their own – and dealing with an unidentified destructive entity wreaking havoc in the Universe (something they may have caused) — now all they need to do is convince Dad’s new and possibly better family to help them put right what their arrival made wrong,’ it states.

With Sir Reginald alive in this reality, will they be able to convince him to help them and the Sparrow Academy save the world?

The Umbrella Academy is available to watch on Netflix.
