The Voice is back and ready to find some new stars – this time with a brand new judge to join the fellas on the ITV competition.
It’s only been two months since the last series, with 18-year-old Blessing Chitapa barely having time to enjoy her time as champion before passing the title on.
But the blind auditions are now officially under way, and time waits for noone – even if a virus does put a stopper on things.
Here’s what you need to know.
Who are the judges of The Voice UK?
Will is the only coach to maintain his position since the show first launched in 2012.
He has only won the show once, back in 2014 with Jermain Jackman.
Tom Jones has been in nearly every series, only missing series five in 2016, when Paloma Faith filled his spot.
He’s won the show twice – the first ever series with Leanne Mitchell, and Ruti Olajugbagbe in series seven.
Olly has been on the show since 2018, and was mentor to Blessing, last year’s winner.
He took over from Gavin Rossdale, who was only in the UK show for one series.
He’s the first judge to win two series in a row, also taking home the win in 2019 with Molly Hocking too.
He celebrated by getting naked.
This is Anne-Marie’s first year in the judges panel.
The 2002 hitmaker shared a video making the announcement, and said of her new role: ‘I am SO excited to join Sir Tom, will.i.am and Olly as the new coach on The Voice UK.
‘I can’t wait to work with incredible undiscovered talent! Wahoooooo!’
She takes over from Meghan Trainor.
What’s new on The Voice?
The Voice judges get to be extra mischievous this season – with Emma Willis revealing a block button has been added to the blind audition.
This allows a judge to block another judge from participating in turning around for a contestant, giving them time to win the wannabe over for themselves.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Emma said: ‘It has made them naughty and Anne Marie is a naughty little minx. She keeps up with all of the boys which is brilliant. It’s just created pure naughtiness with all of them, they’re like little kids playing pranks on each other.’
The presenter added: ‘Tom finds it really funny. He just kind of sits there giggling to himself.
‘It’s always nice to introduce something new, especially when it’s a bit of a wind up for someone else.’
When is The Voice UK on ITV?
The Voice UK starts tonight, January 2 at 8.30pm on ITV.
It will stay in this time slot every Saturday, running through the blind auditions, the head-to-head rounds, and then the final performances.
Viewers can cast their votes on who they want to win from the live shows.
