Mabel could be poised for a ‘bombshell’ appearance in the Love Island villa – and it won’t be the first time she’s joined the contestants.
The Don’t Call Me Up singer has teased the possibility of a return to Majorca and joked she could head in to ruffle some feathers just over a week after the new series got underway.
In a TikTok video styled as a VT for a new Islander, she introduced herself: ‘I’m Mabel, I’m 25, I’m a singer from London. When I walk into the villa, I’m definitely gonna turn some heads.’
Of course, the video is part of a trend on the site using her audio from last year’s appearance, but it could be pretty timely considering her history with the show.
Here’s a look at her Love Island past, and the chances of her heading back in this time round.
When was Mabel on Love Island?
Mabel appeared on Love Island in 2021, as the 25-year-old singer – full name Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey – went into the villa to entertain the contestants.
In a promotional video at the time, she said: ‘I have toured Europe and played at some of the most amazing music venues, but nothing quite like the Love Island villa.’
And ITV added: ‘We called her up. Chart-topping superstar @Mabel will be dropping by the villa for our Spotify party next week.
‘She’ll be performing her latest hit Let Them Know and loads more, in a one-off gig guaranteed to get the party started and get the Islanders feeling some Mad Love.’
Could Mabel appear on Love Island 2022?
It’s definitely a possibility – especially after the TikTok clip.
Mabel loved her time on the show last year, and she recently refused to rule out a return.
‘I am such a big fan of the show. The fact I get to go in there and meet the Islanders is incredible,’ she told the Daily Star. ‘If I could go back, I would take MNEK with me because he has so many bangers – like how many tunes had MNEK got?’
And she’s been keeping up to date with the current series, as she revealed she’s loving Dami Hope’s blossoming romance with Amber Beckford.
‘I think that they have legs, I’m here for it. I’m such a sop I just love love and I’m just like I love the couples they just stay together from the beginning,’ she added.
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
