The latest series of Married At First Sight UK has been turbulent to say the least, with some couples surprising viewers by making it to the end while others decided to call it quits.
However, fans hoping to watch the conclusion of the show in the highly-anticipated finale were left disappointed when it wasn’t shown on E4 during its allocated time slot on Thursday evening this week, with the wrong episode airing in its place.
Channel 4 has suffered technical issues throughout the week, with The Great British Bake Off hit with sound snags and the channel crashing unexpectedly on multiple occasions.
While Channel 4 works to ensure its programming runs smoothly, MAFS UK fans have been left wondering whether they’re going to have to wait much longer to watch the finale go down.
So why did the wrong episode of MAFS UK air on E4 and when will the finale be released?
Why did the wrong episode of MAFS UK air last night?
After fans of the show realised that the wrong episode was airing on Thursday evening, E4 released a statement on Twitter apologising for the mishap.
The channel also explained that the blunder was down to ‘ongoing tech issues’, which have also affected Channel 4 on a wider scale this week.
‘We’re aware it’s yesterday’s episode of #MAFSUK playing out this evening and apologise. It’s all down to our ongoing tech issues which we’re working hard on,’ E4 said.
The statement added that it would inform viewers when it had more information on when the tech issues have been resolved.
When will the finale of MAFS UK air on E4?
Usually, MAFS UK airs from Mondays to Thursdays.
However, given the finale wasn’t shown on Thursday evening, there’s some confusion as to whether the finale will be shown on a different day than usual – perhaps on Friday evening or the weekend – or if it may be saved for next week.
So far, a new release date for the final episode hasn’t been revealed, with E4 telling it’s Twitter followers: ‘We’ll update here as soon as we know more and when you’ll be able to see the final episode of MAFS UK.’
In a follow-up tweet published on Thursday evening, E4 said: ‘To confirm, #MAFSUK and Afters won’t be playing tonight.
‘We’re sorry again – we’re working to make it available on All 4 and E4 as soon as possible and we’ll update as soon as we know more..’
Married At First Sight UK is available to watch on All 4.
