It might seem hard to believe, but it’s only a few short months now until Christmas 2021.
And while everybody is hoping that this year’s festive season is a whole lot better than last year’s, which played out in the shadow of Covid lockdowns, one thing which will remain the same this year is the cavalcade of Christmas adverts coming our way.
The first of these has already made its debut on the small screen – much to the surprise of viewers – but the one everybody will of course be holding out for is the annual offering from John Lewis.
Just when will we get to see the John Lewis Christmas advert in 2021?
When will the John Lewis Christmas advert be released?
As it stands, we don’t yet have a date for the release of the John Lewis Christmas advert.
However, for the past seven years it has been released some time in the first half of November.
In 2020 it made its debut online on Friday November 13 before getting its first TV airing the following day on ITV during the final of The Voice UK.
It’s likely it will follow a similar pattern this year, making its debut online – which usually happens around 8am on the day of release – before it finds its way on to TV.
What was the John Lewis 2020 Christmas advert about?
The 2020 Christmas advert was a departure from previous adverts, which introduced the world to the likes of Buster the Boxer, Excitable Edgar the fire-breathing dragon and Monty The Penguin.
Instead, it was launched on National Kindness Day and formed part of John Lewis and Waitrose’s campaign to raise £4m for two UK based charities: FareShare, which helps those facing food poverty and Home-Start, which works with parents who need support.
The advert itself saw a chain of kindness working its way through Britain as an animated dreamland, with focus on the everyday heroes – such as nurses for example – who had helped the country through the worst of the pandemic.
The soundtrack was provided by Brit-award winning singer Celeste, with her self-penned track Give A Little Love.
