He’s had an impressive run on the show overall, holding the record for most 10s achieved in a single series thanks to his 2017 partnership with Alexandra Burke.
So will he be able to recreate the magic this year? Not too much longer to find out, as the new series starts tonight – with Gorka training another soap star this year, Corrie-turned-Hollyoaks actress Katie McGlynn.
But while he’s twirling around the dance floor with his latest partner, Gorka has two girls who have stolen his heart – girlfriend Gemma Atkinson and daughter, Mia.
Here’s what you’ve been asking about him.
Where is Gorka Marquez from?
Gorka is originally from Bilbao, Spain, and has been dancing since the age of 12.
Among his achievements, he represented the country in the World Latin Championships in 2010.
He joined Strictly Come Dancing as a professional in 2016.
Who is Gorka Marquez dating?
Gorka is engaged former Hollyoaks actress Gemma Atkinson, after meeting her when she took part in Strictly in 2017.
Gemma was partnered up with Gorka’s close friend Aljaz Skorjanec – and once the show was over they went public with their romance on Valentine’s Day.
They’ve only been seen dancing once together – on the Christmas special in 2019 – in a full circle moment for the couple.
The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2021, with Gorka preparing a very romantic proposal.
Pre-wedding, the couple will have to endure some time apart while Gorka is off filming the 2021 series of Strictly.
Does Gorka Marquez have children?
Yes – he has a daughter, two-year-old Mia Louise Marquez.
Gemma and Gorka welcomed their little one in July 2019 – and she made her Strictly debut that December, appearing in a video as her parents performed together for the Christmas show.
The little one sent her dad support over the course of Strictly 2020 – even leaving him in tears as she cheered on Papa from home.
It sounds like the young family is looking forward to the wedding and all sharing the same surname, too.
Back in 2019, Gemma hinted it was time for a proposal, saying: ‘It was quite sad because until then apparently they officially take the mum’s name, but once registered she’s an official Marquez.
‘And I’m the only one now who’s not a Marquez in the family.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday night at 7pm.
