Fans were anxious after the publication of Aldi’s Christmas TV commercial teaser because Kevin the Carrot was nowhere to be seen.
For the last six years, the mascot has appeared in the cheap supermarket chain’s Christmas advertisements in the United Kingdom.
As a result, it seemed evident that he would return in 2023.
However, many customers were perplexed last week when they were met with new figures nicknamed the ‘Plumpa Loompas’.
The words of their song Have we got a Christmas cracker for you? appear in the Willy Wonka-themed trailer. emerge on the screen, with the adorable fruits leading viewers through the lyrics so they may sing along.
It’s set to the tune of The Oompa Loompa song from the original 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory film, and it highlights dishes like turkey, gravy and sticky toffee pudding before addressing Father Christmas and his reindeer ‘having fun’.

The 35-second teaser then tells people to ‘keep their eyes peeled’ ahead of the full ad’s release, which is expected later this month.
Many Kevin fans, however, have been left wondering whether or not he will appear again.
‘Love it but where’s Kevin?’ one person commented on Aldi’s Facebook post sharing the teaser.
‘Will there be a Kevin this Christmas?’ someone else questioned.
Another asked: ‘Are we getting Kevin soon?’
However, on the Aldi website the supermarket seems to have confirmed he won’t be appearing, writing that ‘after a somewhat tumultuous Christmas 2022, Kevin the Carrot is taking a well-earned rest with his family, Katie, Chantenay, Jasper and Baby!’
‘If we hear from him, we’ll let you know, so stay tuned!’
However, they have been teasing his return, so they may simply be attempting to keep people on their toes.
In response to a message on their social media accounts, Aldi advised customers to “keep your eyes peeled,” while another claimed Christmas without Kevin was “unthinkable.”
Last year’s Aldi commercial was an homage to the holiday blockbuster Home Alone, and it showed Kevin fighting thieves after being left alone when the rest of his family went on vacation.
Despite his reservations, the visitor turned out to be Santa himself.
