The return of The Traitors for season 2 has brightened the start of 2024 for numerous UK watchers.
Claudia Winkleman, the show’s host, returns in her more trendy knitwear to greet the new cast of Faithfuls and treacherous Traitors.
At the start of the series, it was revealed that the Strictly Come Dancing host had picked three Traitors – events coordinator Ash, army engineer Harry, and business manager Paul – before they chose a fourth person to join them – veterinary nurse Miles.
A competitor can be removed in The Traitors in two ways: they are murdered by the group’s hidden backstabbers or they are expelled during a roundtable vote.
In either case, their removal shows whether they were a true Faithful or a cunning Traitor, much to the chagrin or joy of their other rivals.
The first competitor to be ruthlessly eliminated from this year’s tournament was revealed just days into the competition, which may have surprised spectators given how promising they were in the game.
Who has left The Traitors, and how did they leave?
Aubrey
Aubrey was the first participant to exit this year’s series, although showing tremendous promise as a Faithful who could track out Traitors.
Unfortunately, that was his undoing, as the Traitors determined that the 67-year-old was too dangerous to keep in the game.
The other contenders discovered out the next day at breakfast, and there were plenty of astonished looks around the table.
When the Traitors were deciding who to kill, Harry pointed out that killing Aubrey might put the other Faithfuls “off their scent.”
Sonja
Shortly after Aubrey’s murder, a roundtable discussion determined who would be the next participant sent home.
The group voiced their misgivings, with several persons named as possible traitors… Sonja, 66, garnered the most votes and was thus expelled.
Before leaving, she confirmed her identity in the game, telling the remaining contestants: ‘Well guys, facts are important to me as they obviously are to you.
‘So here’s a fact I would now like to confirm to you, and that is that I am a Faithful.’
Kyra
The Traitors chose someone who had been keeping a close watch on the Shields for their second kill, winning one at the first opportunity.
Fans were outraged that she was removed from the competition so abruptly, with the rest of the series’ stars finding out when they all gathered at the breakfast table.
‘Kyra was so robbed,’ one person called Luke wrote on X.
Another fan said: ‘Gutted 😭 I liked Kyra, she was bringing so much already – someone who puts themselves in the centre of attention! The Traitors aren’t smart for using her as a victim so soon.’
Stay tuned to find out who else will be murdered and exiled in this year’s The Traitors series!
The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer with new episodes airing on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
