Ava Evans, also known as Ava Santina on X and formerly on Twitter, is the political journalist at the core of Laurence Fox’s’sick’ outburst on Tuesday’s GB News.
The network is looking into the 45-year-old’s ‘absolutely reprehensible’ statements on racism. He was formerly an actor before being dumped by his agency after racist remarks.
During the terrible diatribe, which aired on Dan Wootton’s Tonight show on Tuesday (September 26), Fox referred to Joe political journalist Ava Evans as a “little woman,” adding, “Who would want to shag that?”
Ava posted a video of the remarks on the social networking site X, now known as Twitter, with the caption: ‘Laurence Fox just delivered an entire speech on GB News about why guys supposedly won’t shag me?’
This is all you need to know about the female journalist.
Who is Ava Evans?
Ava is a political journalist for the online news site Joe, where she primarily covers Westminster and trade unions.
She was also a former LBC producer.
As of Wednesday morning, the GB News footage she uploaded had been seen over five million times.
In a subsequent tweet to her almost 100,000 followers, she said the video made her feel ‘physically nauseous.’
Carol Vorderman, Piers Morgan, and Susanna Reid have all backed Ava, with the Uncensored frontman saying, ‘What he said does not reflect our beliefs, and we apologise unequivocally for the statements and the offence they have caused.
Laurence Fox’s vile rant in full
We’re past the watershed so I can say this: show me a single self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman, ever, ever, who wasn’t an Incel?
‘That little woman has been fed, spoon-fed oppression day after day after day… starting with the lie of the gender wage gap, and she’s sat there and I’m going, if I met you in a bar and that was like sentence three, chances of me just walking away are just huge.
‘We need powerful strong amazing women who make great points for themselves, we don’t need these sort of feminist 4.0… they’re pathetic and embarrassing. Who would want to shag that?’
On Good Morning Britain, Susanna also said that any MP’s who appeared on GB News should ‘come off’ if the channel ‘entertained that sort of talk’.
‘No woman’s body should be spoken about in that way,’ she added.
In their latest statement, on Wednesday morning, GB News announced it had taken further measures against Fox and suspended the former actor with immediate effect while their probe continues.
The statement, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, reads: ‘GB News has formally suspended Laurence Fox while we continue our investigation into comments he made on the channel last night.
‘Mr Fox’s suspension is effective immediately and he has been taken off air.
‘We will be apologising formally to Ms Evans today.’
