After 10 weeks of blood, sweat and tiered cakes, the Great British Bake Off final is upon us.

Among the final three is Laura Adlington, who has proved her skills as a baker from day one inside the tent. Her flavours have impressed the judges throughout, and fans have enjoyed her musical theatre love-in with presenter Matt Lucas too.

She hasn’t had the easiest road to the final, though. Laura became the victim of vile trolling online, and a host of names including Paul Hollywood and contestant Hermine were forced to step in and wish her well.

But how old is Laura and what does she do when she’s not in the Bake Off tent?

Gravesend resident Laura is a relative newcomer to the world of baking. The 31-year-old only realised her talents over the last few years, and was inspired to apply for the show.

She established herself as a contender inside the tent with her flavours, winning star baker during pastry week. She goes up against finalists Dave and Peter and she’s rightly proud of making the final three, despite a few messy bakes along the way.

What does Laura do for a living?

Laura volunteers for the Samaritans outside the show, and is married to a Police Community Support Officer. As we know from her chats with Matt, she loves musical theatre and enjoys plenty of trips down to London’s West End.

The Great British Bake Off concludes tonight at 8pm on Channel 4.
