Who is Dancing On Ice star Graham Bell and what happened to his skating partner Yebin Mok?

Graham Bell hit the headlines before officially hitting the competition thanks to a nasty accident involving his skating partner Yebin Mok.

Now he’s preparing to make his Dancing On Ice debut with a new partner as the second batch of celebs in this year’s line-up perform in the competition.

So what can we expect from him, where do we know him from, and what exactly happened with Yebin?

Who is Graham Bell?

Graham Bell is a former Olympic athlete and skiing expert, competing as part of Team GB across five Winter Olympic games, more than any other skiier in history.

He appeared at Sarajevo, Bosnia in 1984, Calgary, Canada in 1988, Albertville, France in 1992, Lillehammer, Norway in 1994 and Nagano, Japan in 1998.

After that, he became a pro commentator, presenting the Olympics for four more competitions.

More recently, he appeared as the commentator for celebrity competition The Jump, and presents Ski Sunday.

Before participating on Dancing On Ice, he appeared on several celebrity game shows and competitions, including Ready Steady Cook, Celebrity Eggheads and The Gadget Show.

What happened to skate partner Yebin Mok?

Graham and Yebin were meant to perform on the first show of the series, but a freak accident meant Yebin was rushed to hospital after practice went wrong.

While training, Graham fell over and Yebin followed, with the pro’s shin landing on his ice skating blade in a freak accidents.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby announced the news on This Morning, and said that the injury was so deep it ‘exposed tendons’.

Speaking after the injury, Graham said in a statement: ‘I fell when we were training on Monday and Yebin my pro-dance partner fell onto the back of my skate.

‘She was cut quite badly on the shin and needed an operation to clean and stitch up the wound.

‘She spent Monday night in Watford hospital and was released yesterday, luckily there was no nerve or tendon damage.’

Yebin later posted a video from hospital saying she was fine, praising the NHS.

She’s being replaced by Karina Mantra as Graham’s partner.

Dancing On Ice airs Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
