The premiere date of I’m A Celebrity… South Africa is almost approaching, and fans are eager to watch how the all-star cast handles the ‘tough’ assignments in the 2023 ITV season.
Diversity actor Jordan Banjo is among those picked to compete in the Bushtucker Trials for the second time, joining Carol Vorderman, Shaun Ryder, and Paul Burrell in the cast.
He and Carol previously suggested on The One Show that the atmosphere around the campfire might grow ‘awkward’ when participants were privately vying for each other to win the show.
Regardless, it seems like they had a great time – and we can’t wait to hear out how they got along and who will be proclaimed King or Queen of the Jungle.
Here’s all you need to know about Jordan, his job, his family life, and his appearance on I’m A Celebrity.
Who is Jordan Banjo?
Jordan is best known as a member of the dancing ensemble Diversity, who won Britain’s Got Talent more than a decade ago.
In addition to his dancing ability, he is presently well-known for co-hosting a weekly breakfast radio programme on KISS with Diversity member Perri Kiely.
The 30-year-old is married to Naomi Banjo (née Courts), with whom he has three children.
Their son was born on April 20, 2023, only days before the premiere of I’m A Celebrity… South Africa.
In a post shared on Instagram, Jordan wrote: ‘Atreus Funso Banjo 🖤 20.04.2023 8lb 8oz
‘I’m so proud of you @naomibanjo, my angel, my wife and the most incredible mum to our children, thank you for our 3 beautiful children, a gift I can never repay, I love you ❤️.’
Has he appeared on TV before?
Jordan has already been on television, in addition to Britain’s Got Talent.
A few years after the talent show, he appeared as a mentor on Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew before presenting a dancing competition on Sky called Got to dancing.
He has presented on TV shows such as Dancing On Ice and The Greatest Dancer, as well as participating on celebrity versions of The Chase, Catch, and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
In 2021, he disguised himself as Viper on The Masked Dancer, being the show’s first elimination.
When was Diversity formed?
Diversity was formed all the way back in 2007, 16 years ago.
Several members of the ensemble had previously performed together in a separate troupe before embarking on their Britain’s Got Talent journey in 2009.
Jordan’s brother Ashley Banjo, Perri, Ike Chuks, and Matthew McNaughton were among the early members of the group.
They were a big success on BGT, reaching the live final and competing against the frontrunner, vocalist Susan Boyle, and saxophonist Julian Smith.
Diversity members were overjoyed to be named victors, and they went on to perform at the prestigious Royal Variety Performance.
When did he appear on I’m A Celebrity?
Jordan previously competed on I’m A Celebrity in 2016, during which he was the fourth celebrity to be eliminated.
Scarlett Moffatt of Gogglebox won the series, with Joel Dommett of Emmerdale coming second and Adam Thomas of Emmerdale finishing third.
Jordan survived 17 days in the jungle before being ousted after finishing second behind Homes Under the Hammer host Martin Roberts in the public vote.
I’m A Celebrity… South Africa begins on Monday April 24 at 9pm on ITV.
