Who is in the cast of McDonald and Dodds season 2 and when is it on?

McDonald and Dodds is back for a second season on ITV, with a fresh mystery set to play out on our screens.

Des actor Jason Watkins and Cold Feet’s Tala Gouveia are back in the lead roles, teaming up for their latest murder investigation.

As the synopsis reads: ‘Set in picturesque Bath, the series pairs feisty DCI McDonald, who has recently transferred from London’s Met Police, with the unassuming DS Dodds, who has been happy in the background for most of his working life.

‘To McDonald’s surprise they form an unexpectedly effective crime solving partnership.’

The first episode of the second season follows a hot air balloon trip which ends in tragedy – and someone is to blame.

Des actor Jason is back as the awkward but endearing DS Dodds and Cold Feet’s Tala returns as the feisty DCI McDonald for new episodes.

They lead the cast of the upcoming three-part season, which boasts an impressive selection of supporting actors and guest stars.

Elsewhere, James Murray is back as Chief Superintendent Houseman, Jack Riddiford returns as DC Darren Craig, and Lily Sacofsky joins them as DC Milena Pachiorkowski.

The first episode will see Rupert Graves, Martin Kemp, Cathy Tyson and Patsy Kensit all appear. They’ll play the chief suspects in the murder case, after a hot air balloon trip ends in shocking circumstances.

The season also stars Rob Brydon, who plays Roy from the Air Incident Investigation Agency who assists with the case.

The likes of Natalie Gumede, Sharon Rooney, John Thomson, Saira Choudhry, Rosie Day and Nitin Ganatra will also appear.

When is McDonald and Dodds season 2 on?

The new three-part season begins on Sunday, February 28 at 8pm. The episodes will air weekly on Sundays at 8pm and be made available to watch on ITV Player.
