Eight brand new episodes of Sex Education have dropped on Netflix as the teen drama returns for an eagerly anticipated third series.

The new instalments continue the story of Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield), as he and the rest of the teen students of Moordale High contend with their raging hormones and the arrival of a new headmistress.

While the third series sees the return of many familiar faces, viewers can be braced for the arrival of new characters all set to challenge the status quo.

Who’s in the cast of Sex Education?

Asa Butterfield returns as the awkward but lovable Otis as he continues to harbour feelings for classmate Maeve (played by Emma Mackay) – will the pair finally get together, or is something set to cause yet another rift?

Gillian Anderson is back as sex therapist Dr Jean F. Milburn, as she deals with her surprise pregnancy with Jakob Nyman (Mikael Persbrandt).

Ncuti Gatwa is back as the Otis’ best friend Eric Effiong, as he and Adam (played by Connor Swindells) take their relationship to the next level after Eric chose him over fellow classmate Rahim (Sami Outalbali, who also returns this season) in the final moments of season two.

Aimee Lou Wood also returns as Aimee Gibbs, along with Simone Ashley as Olivia, Mimi Keene as Ruby, Chaneil Kular as Anwar, Tanya Reynolds as Lily, and Patricia Allison as Ola.

As for new faces, Girls actress Jemima Kirke will be causing a stir as the school’s new headmistress Hope after Mr Groff was given the sack last season.

Speaking of Mr Groff, we will also be meeting his older, more successful brother (and Adam’s uncle) Peter, who will be played by Lucius Malfoy himself, Jason Isaacs.

Dua Saleh, a gender-non-conforming singer/songwriter also joins the cast as Cal, a non-binary student who clashes with headmistress Hope.
