Who is in the cast of Strictly Come Dancing 2020?

Strictly Come Dancing 2020 is finally back on our screens for an eighteenth series.

It’s time to don your sparkly leotard (what, you don’t have one?) and dust off your tap shoes, as the UK’s favourite dance competition kicks off tonight.

This season is set to be bigger than ever before and boasts an exciting star-studded cast – and a same-sex couple.

But who are the celebs taking to the ballroom, and what professional dancers will be foxtrotting back onto our screens? Here’s all you need to know.

Who are the Strictly Come Dancing 2020 celebs?

This years celebs are bigger than ever, with Olympic gold medal athletes, singers, politicians, and comedians.

Nicola Adams

Double Olympic gold medallist boxer Nicola Adams OBE will be showing us her moves.

The 37-year-old will be appearing in Strictly’s first ever same-sex couple.

Nicola said: ‘I wanted to thank the BBC for supporting me and making me the first ever all female-pairing.

‘And it’s amazing to be a part of the movement for change, diversity, and breaking boundaries in the entertainment industry.’

Jamie Laing

Made In Chelsea royalty (and possibly actual royalty, judging by his accent) Jamie Laing will be tangoing onto our screens soon.

Jamie, 31, was originally meant to appear on last year’s series, but was forced to pull out due to a foot injury.

The reality TV star told This Morning: ‘Here we go again, hopefully this time I can last long enough so my mum can see me dance.’

HRVY

Teenage heartthrob HRVY (aka Harvey Leigh Cantwell) is a popstar with more than 2.7 million YouTube subscribers.

On KISS Breakfast with Jordan & Perri, HRVY said: ‘Being on Strictly is going to be such an amazing experience, and I’m so thankful to be taking part this year.”

The 21-year-old singer added: ‘I think my mum is more excited that she’ll be able to see me every Saturday night now.’

Maisie Smith

Eastender’s star Maisie Smith will be foxtrotting onto our screens soon (Picture: PA)

Eastender’s royalty Maisie Smith, 19, will also be competing on the BBC dancing show.

The starlet is best known for playing Tiffany Butcher on the soap – a role she’s held since 2008.

Speaking about appearance, she said: ‘Get me in those sequins, I can’t wait to dive into the Strictly fancy dress box this winter!’

JJ Chalmers

Though JJ Chalmers, 33, is a Invictus Games medallist, there is no doubt that Strictly will be his toughest competition yet.

The ex-marine said: ‘My whole life is defined by facing challenges.

‘Whether it’s becoming a Royal Marine Commando, recovering from my injuries sustained in Afghanistan to competing in The Invictus Games.’

Chalmers described Strictly as ‘a whole different ball game’.

Jacqui Smith

Jacqui Smith, 58, will be swapping Westminster Abbey for the Strictly ballroom.

The Former Labour MP will be following in the steps of Anne Widdecombe and Ed Balls when she competes on Strictly.

She told Good Morning Britain that she was ‘having the time of my life’ training for the BBC show.

Bill Bailey

Comedian and actor Bill Bailey will be cutting some shapes on the Strictly dancefloor.

Bill, 55, is best known for his stand up comedy and appearing in shows like Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

‘In these strange times we’re living through, it feels right to do something different and take on a new challenge,’ he said.

‘My late mum Madrin would have loved it – I hope she’ll be watching.’

Clara Amfo

Clara Amfo, 36, will go from spinning disks to turning heads when she steps out onto the dancefloor.

The radio presenter has been a big fan of Strictly for years.

She told Greg James on Radio 1 Breakfast: ‘As we know this year has been a real challenge, and escapism through dancing is something I know we all enjoy, so to be taught by a pro and live a fantasy is something that I can’t wait to fully embrace.’

Ranvir Singh

Ranvir Singh went from reading the news to making headlines whens she was confirmed in the Strictly line up.

The 43-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter said she: ‘Feels like embarking on a rollercoaster, where you really want to do it but you are equally scared.

She added: ‘Hopefully after the first dance I will feel exhilarated rather than sick!’

Max George

The Wanted’s Max George is also competing on the BBC dancing competition.

The 32-year-old singer is best known for songs such as ‘Chasing The Sun’ and ‘Walks Like Rihanna’.

His bandmate Jay McGuiness won the show back in 2015.

Jason Bell

Will Jason have what it takes to take home the win? (Picture: BBC)

Former NFL player and BBC NFL correspondent will be swapping his cleats for tap shoes.

Jason, 42, told The One Show that he was taking part for his six-year-old daughter, Anaìya, who he shares with former Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle.

Caroline Quentin was the first celebrity to be announced in the Strictly 2020 lineup.

Caroline, 60, is best known for appearing in Men Behaving Badly.

The actress said she is ‘a bit scared’ to be appearing on the show, but excited too.

Who are the Strictly Come Dancing 2020 professionals?

Fans are hoping that their favourite dancers, such as Anton Du Beke and Oti Mabuse, make a comeback this series.
