The announcement earlier this year that new companion Millie Gibson would be leaving after a brief term as Ruby Sunday shook the Doctor Who community.
Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor will now have a new companion in the shape of actress Varada Sethu, but she will be joining Ncuti and Millie.
Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies said he ‘first worked with Varada on a BBC production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and it’s a joy to welcome her on board the TARDIS.’
‘Right now in the studio, shooting for 2025, we’ve got Ncuti, Millie and Varada fighting side by side – we need all three, because the stakes are higher than ever!’
Our favourite BBC sci-fi series is preparing for a true return on May 11, 2024, after Ncuti Gatwa took over as the 15th Doctor during the 2023 Christmas specials, after David Tennant reprised his role for the three one-hour episodes.
Millie, 19, had her debut appearance during the holidays, and it was revealed that she will be appearing beside Ncuti as new companion Ruby Tuesday for the full season.
Sethu said it was an ‘honour to be a part of the Whoniverse’ and she felt ‘like the luckiest person in the world.’
‘I couldn’t ask for a better team than Ncuti and Millie to be on this adventure with.’
