The winner has been announced for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6, making Drag Race Her-story with an epic finale.
This season of All Stars has seen several drag superstars make their mark, with returning queens including Trinity K. Bonet, Ginger Minj, Kylie Sonique Love and Silky Nutmeg Ganache.
The series has been a rollercoaster to say the least, with head judge RuPaul teasing a game within a game from the start, which saw the eliminated queens compete in lip sync battles for a chance to rejoin the competition.
The grand finale saw Kylie, Eureka!, Ginger and Ra’Jah O’Hara go head-to-head for the coveted title of joining the Drag Race Hall of Fame, in addition to bagging a cash prize of $100,000.
So who slayed their way to the top?
Who won RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 6?
Kylie Sonique Love has been crowned the winner of All Stars 6, becoming the first ever trans woman to win the US version of Drag Race.
Trans queen Angele Anang was victorious in season two of Drag Race Thailand, while Gottmik, the first trans man to compete on the US Drag Race, made it to the final of season 13.
Before being announced as the winner, Kylie joined Ginger, Eureka! and Ra’jah as they each performed a verse of RuPaul and Tanya Tucker’s latest track This Is Our Country.
Then, as per Drag Race tradition, they were each interviewed by RuPaul and fellow judge Michelle Visage about their journey in the competition, before taking to the runway and lip syncing for their lives and their legacy.
In addition to being inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame and winning $100,000, Kylie also received a crown and a scepter and a year’s supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills Cosmetics.
Kylie’s rise to the top comes after she landed in ninth place in season two of the Drag Race.
Several fans celebrated her historic win, with one person tweeting: ‘KYLIE SONIQUE LOVE IS OUR FIRST EVER TRANS WINNER. I’m so proud of her. Just look at the material.’
‘Kylie Sonique Love winning #AllStars6 makes me happy,’ someone else wrote, with a cry-smiling emoji.
Another fan pointed out how ‘iconic’ it was that Kylie was originally eliminated for her portrayal of Lady Gaga in Snatch Game, before winning All Stars with a Lady Gaga lip sync.
‘The growth and evolution of Kylie Sonique Love is something I’ve never seen on Drag Race or on television ever. Her journey to becoming such a soulful, wise woman is groundbreaking and going to inspire generations of queer and trans youth,’ one fan tweeted with pride.
