Eamonn Holmes made his GB News debut on Monday morning with the launch of his new Breakfast show.

The former This Morning presenter, 62, was joined by co-host Isabel Webster for the first episode of the channel’s programme titled Breakfast With Eamonn And Isabel.

Before joining the network, Eamonn had been a staple on the ITV daytime show for 15 years along with his wife Ruth Langsford.

Here’s why Eamonn left ITV’s This Morning to join GB News.

Why did Eamonn Holmes leave This Morning?

Eamonn confirmed in November that he was leaving ITV’s This Morning for GB News.

Alongside his wife, Ruth Langsford, he had been a regular fixture on the daytime television show for 15 years however, he opted to move to ‘give a voice to the unheard’.

‘I’ve spent my career on broadcasting firsts and start-ups and GB News is one of the most exciting yet,’ Eamonn said at the time.

‘It’s just the kind of shake-up the industry needs.

‘I’ve admired GB News from the beginning for its clever mix of punchy debate but delivered with warmth and even some fun.

‘To me the greatest honour in journalism is to give a voice and respect to the unheard, and that’s exactly what GB News is all about.’

A spokeswoman for ITV said: ‘We would like to wish Eamonn all of the very best in his new role.

‘As a duo, Eamonn and Ruth have been part of the This Morning presenting team for the last 15 years and we thank Eamonn for all of his hard work and contribution to the show.

‘Ruth remains an important part of ITV Daytime both as a continuing member of the This Morning family and as an anchor presenter on Loose Women.’

Eamonn’s exit from This Morning came after he and Ruth were replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond on their Friday slot in November 2020.

Despite speculation over Eamonn being angry about being booted off, he tweeted for fans to ‘welcome’ them onto the programme.

Wishing them well as he said: ‘Have a ball you two!’

Before This Morning, Eamonn presented GMTV and has also worked across radio, with slots on stations including Radio 5 Live, Magic, BBC Radio 2, and talkRadio.

What is Eamonn Holmes’ new show on GB News?

Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster co-host their own GB News programme titled Breakfast.

The show, which launched on Monday, January 3, airs weekdays from 6am to 9.30am.

Speaking to the audience at the start of the show, Eamonn said: ‘I’m having some lovely messages from people all around the country who are looking forward to whatever we’re going to do differently. Hopefully we are going to do lots of things differently.

‘We’re going to do news, but we’re going to do news with views. We’re going to do your news, because if it is important to you, it is important to us.’

Breakfast With Eamonn And Isabel airs on weekdays from 6am to 9.30am.
