Strictly Come Dancing is going to look a little different than expected tonight, as judge Motsi Mabuse will be missing from the judging panel and contestant Nicola Adams has had to forfeit her role in show after her professional partner Katya Jones tested positive for coronavirus.
With Motsi not able to join the judging panel as normal this week, long-time Strictly pro Anton du Beke will appear on the Strictly judging panel instead.
The BBC confirmed: ‘We are pleased to announce that the King of Ballroom Anton du Beke is stepping into our Judging panel this weekend. Good luck Anton!’
His stint on the judging panel this weekend will be the first time Anton has acted as a judge the show since he first joined Strictly Come Dancing back in 2004.
Anton, 54, is the longest-serving professional dancer on the show.
Why isn’t Motsi on Strictly – will Anton replace her permanently?
Motsi took to social media to explain why she will be unable to join the judges in the studio this week saying: ‘Earlier this week I needed to travel to Germany for an urgent reason. I will of course be following the UK Government guidelines and self-isolating for 14 days.’
As Motsi must self-isolate, she can’t go to the studio to film Strictly as she normally would this weekend. She also said: ‘I’ll be watching from home and by the power of technology, should be in your living rooms. Watch out though, I’ll be doing my own hair and make-up!’
There has been no suggestion that Motsi will not return to Strictly as a judge once again once her period of quarantine after travelling is over.
With the judge planning on making a virtual appearance on the show this week too, we can only assume that the dancer will return to Strictly in person once she is able to.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 7:10pm
