Woman blasts sex doll company for ‘stealing her identity’ and wants X-rated product pulled from shelves

A woman has blasted a sex doll company for allegedly stealing her identity for one of their X-rated products.

Yael Cohen Aris – a model and Instagram star from Israel – found out about the Doll Studio figure from a follower, and the doll even shares her name while also including a unique beauty mark just under her mouth.

Appearing on This Morning, the 25 year old insisted there’s ‘no mistaking’ the similiarities, while presenter Phillip Schofield noted the company even uses ‘photos and videos from your Instagram account to sell the thing’.

Yael admitted while she isn’t ‘against the sex doll industry’ in general, she said her situation raises the issue of consent.

She said: ‘I’ll be completely honest – I don’t have anything against the sex doll industry, but of course the problem here is that they did it without my consent and my knowledge.

‘Also, it’s double wrong because it’s connected to my identity – it’s not just a doll that looks like me or is inspired by me. It was developed from me!’

Yael – who has sought legal aid over the situation – insisted it hasn’t increased her social media following, which currently stands at over 1.1 million.

And when Phil asked if she’d be tempted to accept a percentage of sales as compensation, she revealed she wants a very different resolution.

‘No, and I think first of all, it should get off the shelves. That’s maybe we can talk about what’s happened and how things went wrong and why,’ she said.

‘I’m not talking about compensation – [it’s about] learning a lesson.’

She added: ‘That’s the thing that I am trying to pursue – trying to bring a real conversation about our privacy, if we still want to share stuff online.’

Holly Willoughby asked if there was part of her that felt ‘flattered’ by the company choosing her as their ideal mode, and Yael awkwardly laughed before saying: ‘I wouldn’t see it exactly that way – but you know what? Everybody likes to feel attractive.’

Before turning to modelling, she worked as a software engineer in the Israel Defense Force, and admitted it took her parents some time to get used to her career change.

‘Honestly, they wanted me to still be a developer, of course,’ Yael said.

‘Eventually they realised this is my dream, they wanted me to be happy.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
