WWE legend Randy Orton has recalled nearly setting himself on fire after a battle with The Undertaker.
The Legend Killer rose through the ranks and put himself on the map with a career defining storyline with the Phenom, which had its fair share of ups and downs.
As part of WWE Network’s 30 Days of the Dead Man, the two superstars have reflected on their rivalry during WWE Untold: The Phenom and The Legend Killer which drops on the streaming platform on Sunday.
Orton recalled the aftermath of their Casket Match at No Mercy in 2005, when he and his father Bob Orton Sr. defeated Taker by rolling him into the coffin.
Randy revealed: ‘I’m getting into it, my adrenaline’s pumping. I’m about to set a casket on fire with the Undertaker in it. I’m not thinking, necessarily, about my safety.
‘I’m dumping all this kerosene all over this f***ing casket. It’s dripping everywhere, and it’s splashing, and it’s hitting me, and it’s on my boots. I didn’t even realise it, but my boots up to my knees were soaked in kerosene.
‘WWE is great when it comes to make sure we’re safe as performers, and there was plenty of guys off to the side with fire extinguishers at the ready.
‘Apparently, they thought they were gonna need to use them because I was soaked in a flammable f***ng liquid.’
It was a terrifying moment, but Orton managed to step away just in time to avoid a sure-fire disaster.
He added: ‘I light it on fire and I think, if I remember it correctly, as I did that I stepped back just in the nick of time when you saw the fire take over the casket. I think it missed the tips of my toes by this much.’
During the in-depth documentary, which sees Undertaker and Orton discuss their rivalry, the legendary performers also delved into their Hell In A Cell match at Armageddon that same year.
The bout saw the Dead Man get a measure of revenge on Orton for accidentally hurting him with a steel chair earlier in their programme, when he ripped the skin of the Phenom’s nose.
Immediately after the incident, Taker warned: ‘Don’t worry kid. You’re receipt’s coming.’
‘That receipt’s coming now,’ the Dead Man warned him during their Hell In A Cell bout.
Orton laughed: ‘I’m like, OK. What the f**k? What am I supposed to do about that? Even though he owed me one because he busted his ass open, he took care of me anyway.
‘Anyone else would have hit me as hard as they could. I learned an important lesson that day… you’re number one priority has to be take care of your opponent.’
