Maureen Eames had the bluntest response when asked how she’s dealing with fame after going viral for saying she doesn’t ‘give a sod’ about the ‘ridiculous’ tier three restrictions.
The pensioner broke the internet this week when she told the BBC she is ‘not going to be fastened in a house when the Government have got it all wrong’ in response to the new rules coming into place in South Yorkshire areas of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield on Saturday.
Joining Alison Hammond and Dermott O’Leary on today’s episode of This Morning, Maureen was asked how she’s coping to her new-found fame.
‘Well I’m having to aren’t I?’ Maureen quipped. ‘There’s no other way. What else can I do for God’s sake?’
Alison erupted into laughter in the ITV studio, which quickly prompted Maureen to add: ‘Excuse me, I might be old but I know how to get up and I know how to live.’
‘Good for you,’ Alison responded, before ending the interview.
Elsewhere in the chat, Maureen revealed how she had symptoms of coronavirus earlier in the year.
‘I took paracetamols, I did my yoga and I did deep breathing, in 10 days I was alright,’ she said.
Today’s episode of This Morning was fronted and edited by Alison, who was given total control.
‘Today’s This Morning is going to be a little bit different because I am the boss everybody,’ she announced as the programme began. ‘I’m the chief, the buck lies with me.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
