There’s a new legal drama arriving on our screens, with You Don’t Know Me coming to BBC One.

It’s another intriguing project from the broadcaster to look out for over the coming weeks, and it features bothup and coming acting talent and acclaimed names behind the scenes.

The new programme is adapted by Tom Edge, the screenwriter who worked on the hit BBC drama Vigil earlier this year.

The first episode of the drama arrives on Sunday at 9pm, before episode two airs on Monday.

Episode three will then follow on Sunday before the four-part series concludes on Monday December 13.

Here’s everything you need to know.

What’s the plot of You Don’t Know Me?

The new series focuses on a young man who stands accused of murder. All the evidence points to him and the police see an open and shut case, but the man mounts a passionate defence and takes his fate into his own hands.

He attempts to claim his innocence by arguing that the murder is linked to a mysterious woman he met on a bus two years previously, but who later went missing.

The synopsis reads: ‘A young man from London stands in court, accused of murder. Despite the overwhelming evidence against him, he swears he’s innocent. But in the end, all that matters is… does the jury believe him?’

Who is in the You Don’t Know Me cast?

Samuel Adewunmi leads the cast of the new programme, playing the enigmatically named character Hero.

The actor recently gave a breakout performance as Ed Harrison in ITV hit Angela Black.

He’s joined in the series by Sophie Wilde, Bukky Bakray, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva and Tuwaine Barrett.

Is You Don’t Know Me based on a book?

The book is based on a book of the same name from criminal defence barrister Imran Mahmood.

The novel was first released in 2017 and was influenced by the experiences Imran had while defending young men during his legal career.

You Don’t Know Me begins on BBC One on December 5 and will be available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
