Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have marked the one-year anniversary since the release of their controversial track WAP.
The rappers teamed up for WAP (which stands for ‘Wet A** P***y’) in 2020 and the song became the talk of the summer thanks to its racy lyrics which sparked a viral WAP challenge on TikTok.
It topped the charts in the UK for three weeks running, racking up 7.9million streams, according to OfficialCharts.com.
Cardi celebrated WAP a year on from its release with a sweet message on Twitter, teasing that the muscians could get together for another release.
‘Wow I can’t believe wappity WAP turned one today. It don’t even feel like it. What a record! @theestallion we should do it again sometime,’ the Bodak Yellow star, who is expecting her second child, said.
She added a previously unseen photo from their slick video which saw the stars, dressed in PVC bodysuits, fishnets and kneepads, lay draped over each other in a pool as dancers did their thing behind them.
Megan Thee Stallion quote tweeted her post and added: ‘Happy WAPIVERSARY ? Thank you for having me , I think the people deserve another collab ??.’
The Savage hitmaker added in a further tweet ‘Love me some Cardi’, to which she replied: ‘Love me some you…keep killing it!’.
They weren’t the only ones giving a shout out to the single one year, as actress Halle Berry cheered the stars on too.
‘Unseen footage from #WAP video ? Happy 1-year ladies,’ the X-Men star tweeted, tagging both Cardi and Megan.
WAP was also a hit in Australia, Greece, Canada and the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. In the latter country the song amassed 93 million streams in its first week of release, more than any other track in history.
