Nine Inch Nails COVID Masks Have Interchangeable Messages: Dirty, Broken, Enraged

Nine Inch Nails have launched a line of face masks with a spot for interchangeable messages including “Dirty,” “Broken,” “Enraged,” “Numb” and more. In typical NIN fashion, the words on the black and grey face coverings meant to keep you safe during the raging COVID-19 pandemic are a mixture of dark and really dark.

They also include such uplifting thoughts as: “Fragile,” “Pig,” “Asleep,” “Broken” and Resistant” alongside the NIN logo. Okay, fine, they threw in “Clean,” Compliant” and “Fixed” for good measure. Then again, the expansion pack throws in: “Obsolete,” “Ready,” “Alone,” “Believer,” “Resentful,” “Delusional,” “Infected,” “Contagious,” “Withdrawn,” “Dead,” “Entitled,” “Disappointed” and “Doomed.”

They join a growing group of artists offering corona-related merch, from Wu-Tang Clan hand sanitizer to a Run The Jewels hazmat suit, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, J Balvin, KISS and the Weeknd masks and Devo face shields.

NIN, which on Wednesday (Oct. 27) announced that they are supporting Democrat Joe Biden in Tuesday’s (Nov. 3) presidential election were also among the 200 signatories to an initiative from Planned parenthood’s Action Fund to encourage voting.

The NIN masks are $35, with the expansion pack setting you back $15. The group will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Nov. 7 in a ceremony that will air on HBO and HBOMax.
