Phil Collins Issues Donald Trump With Cease & Desist Order for Playing ‘In the Air Tonight’

After an unauthorized use of “In the Air Tonight” during a rally in Iowa on Wednesday (Oct. 14), Phil Collins has served Donald Trump’s presidential campaign with a cease and desist order.

The song choice has been met with criticism online, as title like “In the Air Tonight” can be perceived as tone deaf, blasting over maskless crowd in Iowa, where COVID-19 cases continue to rise.

“Yes we are well aware of the Trump campaign’s use of this song and we have already issued a ‘cease and desist’ letter via our lawyers who continue to monitor the situation,” a spokesperson told Consequence of Sound.

Collins is the latest of many artists, including The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen, who have issued Trump with a cease an desist order for use of their songs.
