It’s fair to say that the Kardashian-Jenner family has a tight grip on beauty standards and trends. In fact, since 2015, the number of people looking to enhance their derrière has increased dramatically. But it looks like the Kardashians may be turning their backs on the BBL era that they helped to start.
Kim and Khloe’s recent weight loss has ushered in a new trend of people looking to reverse their enhancements. Beauty specialist Sibel Köse, who owns two cosmetic clinics, says, ‘we are now seeing a rise in more and more people looking for slimming and firming treatments than ever before.’
‘While skinniness has never really been out of fashion, we are slowly seeing fewer influencers and celebrities with curves and voluptuous figures,’ she says. ‘It’s unlikely that there will ever go back to the era of nothing but size zero models walking down the runway, but like it or not, thin is definitely making its way back to the mainstream.’
Many young women are expected to follow in the Kardashians’ footsteps. However, most of us do not have the bank accounts to get treatments like liposuction so we asked Sibel to give us the full lowdown on non-invasive body contouring treatments.
Sure, body contouring treatments can give you a more toned look and reduce the appearance of stubborn fat. But it’s important to remember that how well the treatment works for you will depend on a number of factors, such as your body composition and the type of treatment. Not to mention, how skilled the practitioner is can affect the results.
‘Non-invasive body contouring treatments, such as EMS and ultrasound cavitation can produce noticeable results even after the very first session with little to no downtime or side effects. However, you need to have realistic expectations and understand that the results may not be as dramatic as those achieved with surgical procedures, such as liposuction,’ she tells us.
‘You should never treat non-invasive body contouring treatments as a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Maintaining a healthy diet and having a regular exercise regime are key to maintaining the results of your treatment.’
She advises that a simple consultation with a qualified healthcare professional can help you decide whether body contouring is right for you and which treatment options are best suited for your needs.
When it comes to the technology itself, there are a number of different machines that practitioners can use to help you get rid of that last bit of fat that you’ve been so desperately trying to eliminate.
‘Electrostimulation technology will take your muscles to the gym. And, the more treatments you have, the more you’ll see the results.’
‘My personal favourite is VIP Italia’s Transion Function. Their Transion technology uses tiny electrical impulses to target specific muscles and tissues. Electrical muscle stimulation makes the muscles contract and induces bending and twisting movements that can’t occur when doing physical activities.’
In that sense, it is similar to how the central nervous system causes muscles to contract by sending electrical impulses to stimulate muscle movement.
‘So basically, this machine makes your body burn calories like you’re doing a tough workout. This helps you lose weight and can even speed up your metabolism. Plus, it can help you get rid of the fluids found in the spaces around cells.’
Liposuction can help you achieve fantastic results. But the downtime and potential risks can be off-putting. If you’re looking for an alternative, Sibel tells us that, ‘Lipoline Function treatments can break apart fat deposits under 1 MHz ultrasound cavitation, reshaping the body’s contours and immediately improving cellulite appearance.’
What’s more, ultrasound cavitation is approved by the FDA and has very few hazards. As cavitation is non-surgical, patients can go about their daily lives after every session.
One of the great things about this body sculpting treatment is that you can start to see results after just one session. On average, you can expect to drop a dress size every 10 sessions.
‘Of course, the results will vary from person to person,’ she says. ‘But when a course of treatments is paired with regular exercise and a low-calorie, balanced diet, fat loss can be long-lasting and maintained.’
Results after 25 Lipoline treatments, followed by Transion treatments.
After 12 Lipoline treatments, followed by Transion, done within 12 weeks.
After 10 Lipoline treatments, done within 52 days.
When it comes to how many sessions you need, your medical professional will be able to explain your treatment plan during a personal consultation. However, she notes that ‘most patients tend to agree to ten sessions, following the recommendations of their chosen clinic.’
‘At the end of the day, the frequency depends on the type of treatment you are getting. If we talk about EMS treatments, like Transion, you can do it every other day. If we are talking about Isogei non-invasive BBL treatments, you can do it every day. To achieve the possible results, I would recommend one to two sessions a week.’
There has been a significant increase in the number of clients opting for body contouring procedures in the past decade. ‘Patients may seek body contouring treatments for a number of different reasons; they may have stubborn pockets of difficult-to-shift weight or struggle to bounce back after pregnancy, or may just need to tone up their muscles and improve their body contour,’ she says.
‘Before performing a body contouring procedure, I always ensure that my patients receive a thorough consultation. This allows me to discuss their desired outcomes and assess whether they are a good candidate for body contouring. Following the consultation, I develop a personalised treatment plan that is tailored to address their individual concerns and specific body issues.’
‘When it comes to fat elimination, the ideal candidate will have localised areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise, such as love handles, belly pooch, or thigh fat,’ she says. ‘But aside from that, patients should have realistic expectations about the results of the treatment and be willing to commit to a healthy lifestyle to maintain their results.’
Unlike surgical treatments, non-invasive aesthetic procedures come with much less risk. However, it’s important to note that everyone’s bodies are different. During ultrasound cavitation treatments, some may feel slight amounts of heat generated by the ultrasonic waves, which may result in some skin reddening around the treatment area.
‘In the case of the EMS treatment, some tenderness or soreness is to be expected. After all, your muscles have been put through an intense workout.’ But she assures us that these effects are temporary and not usually painful.
Non-invasive technology works around intense and focused muscle contractions. So, apart from an achy sensation, similar to completing a good workout, she says ‘you should be able to return to your day-to-day routine in no time.’
Whether you’re going under the knife or having a non-invasive procedure, it is important to make sure that you go to a reputable qualified practitioner. The UK government has not made amendments to the Health and Care Bill yet. This bill will give the Health Secretary the power to introduce a licence for non-invasive cosmetic treatments.
‘Right now it is up to patients to do their research and vet practitioners,’ she tells us. ‘Always ask to see their previous work and never go through with a procedure without having a consultation first. Any trustworthy practitioner will be happy to share their background and talk you through the treatment process.’
‘But more than anything, choose a practitioner that you are completely at ease with. If the results sound too good to be true, they probably are.’
