Rio Ferdinand is flaunting the benefits of his beard and hair transplant.
The 45-year-old travelled to Istanbul’s Dr Cinik hospital for the procedure, with the clinic posting a video of the footballer’s visit on social media.
‘I’m here to get my beard sorted out, I’ve got a couple of holes, a couple of patches,’ Rio said in the clip.
‘Get my hair transplant done. I can’t wait to get it done. Listen, if you’re ever thinking about getting yours done, this is the place to be.’
The video depicts several stages of the sportsman’s hair journey, with Rio adding to the clinic’s display of football shirts by presenting them an autographed Manchester United tee.
Dr Cinik captioned the post: ‘Rio Ferdinand, the legendary captain of Manchester United and a pillar of the England national team, entrusted the renowned Dr. Cinik Hospital in Turkiye for his remarkable hair transformation.’
‘Witness his journey from triumph to triumph as he embraces a bold new look with zeal and confidence, rewriting the playbook of success!’ they continued.
Rio joins a long line of football stars who have attended Dr Cinik facility for a variety of treatments, including Bacary Sagna, Ryan Babel, and Diego Lugano.
His transplant comes after he stated in 2021 that he coloured any grey hairs in his beard.
The dad-of-five told The Mid Point podcast with Gabby Logan: ‘I dye my beard sometimes, I get grey hairs here. I dye it. I think it just looks better.
‘I’m not ashamed of having grey hair, I don’t care, but it looks better if it’s all one colour.’
‘If it all went grey, the whole beard was grey, I’d let it just go. But it’s like patchwork,’ he added, according to the Mail Online.
Rio’s transplant comes after he and his wife, Kate Ferdinand, who married in 2019, had their second child, baby daughter Shae, in July.
They also have a three-year-old son named Cree.
Rio has three children with his late first wife Rebecca Ellison: Lorenz, 17, Tate, 15, and Tia, 12. She died of breast cancer in 2015.
