Amanda Holden has opened out about how she’s been fighting to accept the reality that her daughter Hollie has graduated from prep school.
The actress, 52, has two daughters with her husband, Hollie, 11, and Alexa, 17, and admitted on Thursday that she is ‘a bit upset’ that her youngest daughter is leaving for pastures new.
Furthermore, the Britain’s Got Talent judge said to her Heart Breakfast co-host Jamie Theakston that she sobbed when picking up Hollie from school for the final time.
Amanda began: ‘I’m not gonna lie. I feel a bit depressed today.’
The doting mum-of-two went on: ‘I think there might be lots of mummy and daddies that feel like me today.
‘I went down to the prep gate of my daughter’s school yesterday to watch her and all her little friends who she’s been at that school with since she was four leave.’
Amanda continued: ‘They all came out of the gates, all in tears… except my daughter.
‘It was like, “I don’t know why everyone’s crying, mummy, we’re gonna see them in year seven in the mix school“.
‘And I’m like, “it’s an end of an era“.’
Jamie then asked: ‘Hang on, you were in tears?’ to which Amanda replied: ‘Well, I was absolutely fine until I gave one of my favourite teachers a hug.

‘I gave her a cuddle and then I started crying.’
Amanda also revealed on air that she made sure to celebrate with all the other mums in style.
‘Every year me and my lovely school all go to the park and have a picnic. A liquid picnic. We all take our picnics and blankets and yesterday our brollies. We sat under the brollies reminiscing with our rosé.’
What’s the best part? Amanda stated that the picnic began at noon and lasted until 7 p.m.
What a way to finish the school year!
