Bebe Rexha has released purported emails from boyfriend Keyan Safyari criticising her for gaining weight, fueling suspicions that the couple has broken up.
The I’m Good singer, 33, resorted to Instagram Stories on Sunday to post a screenshot of the alleged text in which Keyan, 39, claims he was only trying to be ‘honest’ with her about her appearance.
He was reported to have typed: ‘Hey. I never said you weren’t beautiful and I never said I didn’t love you. In fact I said how beautiful you are and how much I loved you.
‘But I always said I would be honest with you and your face was changing so I told you it was [sic].’
The text messages seemingly carried on to share: ‘That was the conversation we were having and you asked… Because I care, would you rather I lied to you? You gained 35 pounds obviously you gained weight and your face changes?
‘Should I just pretend it didn’t happen and that it’s ok? Come on I gain 3 pounds and you called me chubbs and fat. Doesn’t mean you don’t love me [sic].’
Her cinematographer boyfriend appeared to have continued: ‘If you’re trying to find reasons to break up this makes sense… but it’s not the real reason.
‘If you’re unhappy with me/yourself/with life and don’t see a future with us then that’s ok and that’s the reason.
‘Don’t use something like that to weaponize your anger or anxiety or any insecurity you may have. You know I always found you to be beautiful and loved you no matter what.’
The alleged text concluded with: ‘Let me know if you’d like to speak if you need more clarity. Love you.’
The couple originally started dating in 2020, and it’s unknown whether they’re still together.
They were photographed kissing outside the star’s Los Angeles home that year, and she is claimed to have given the director and company owner a Ferrari for his birthday.
Bebe and her boyfriend reportedly spent quarantine together, with the hitmaker telling Entertainment Tonight in October 2020: ‘I wasn’t lonely during quarantine.
‘I have a very wonderful man in my life right now and he’s so amazing. I’m very grateful for him and I’m just enjoying my life and seeing where it goes.’
Bebe has previously discussed her body image and honestly discussed her recent polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis in May.
PCOS is a disorder in which the ovaries create an overabundance of male sex hormones, resulting in heavy periods, weight gain, acne, and excessive hair growth.
She told The Jennifer Hudson Show: ‘I literally jumped 30 pounds so quickly, maybe a little bit more. But we gotta just be positive and just show people love.’
