Despite never smoking, Big Bang Theory and Scrubs actress Kate Micucci has disclosed she has lung cancer.
The actress, who is most known for her performances in sitcoms as well as her voice work on popular children’s series such as Ben 10 and Scooby Doo, has had surgery for the condition.
Kate, 43, broke the news to admirers in a TikTok video, telling viewers that doctors discovered the disease’really early.’
In a clip to her account, she joked ‘this is not a TikTok, it’s a SickTock.’
‘I’m in the hospital …because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday. They caught it really early.’
The star said it was ‘weird’ as she had ‘never smoked a cigarette in my life … but I guess it happens.’

‘The greatest news is they caught it early, they got it out, I’m all good. It’s been a little bit of a trip.’
While she admitted she would be ‘moving slow for a few weeks’ she promised to be ‘back at it.’
Kate told a commenter that her lung cancer was discovered after she had bloodwork that revealed elevated CPR levels, suggesting inflammation.
Doctors discovered a spot in her lung during tests.

Kate has played Velma Dinkley in several Scooby Doo films and shows, as well as appearing in Steven Universe, Teen Titans Go, and American Dad.
Her appearance in Big Bang Theory was as Raj’s love interest; she featured in eight episodes.
In Scrubs, she played Stephanie Gooch, a recurrent character noted for playing the ukelele for sick children in the hospital.
Lung cancer is one of the most lethal tumours in the United States, although the prognosis is significantly better when detected early.
According to NHS England, persons who get lung cancer early are roughly 20 times more likely to live for five years than those who get it later.
