Simon Webbe’s mysterious hospital visit this weekend was discovered to be related to sciatica, the singer’s condition.
Fans were concerned when the Blue boyband member requested for luck on Instagram while posting a picture of himself in a medical gown, looking tired.
‘Yet again in the hospital!!’ ‘Wish me luck,’ he captioned the Story, adding a prayer hands emoji.
He hasn’t said anything else about his medical appointment since then.
The 43-year-old has now been diagnosed with sciatica, which occurs when the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back to your feet, is irritated or compressed.
The actress has been suffering with the ailment for a “lengthy time” and is currently seeking therapy, including surgery, to alleviate the discomfort.
He was previously kept busy in December with bandmates Duncan James, Antony Costa, and Lee Ryan as they honoured their delayed 20th anniversary with a UK tour.
This came after their sixth studio album, Heart & Soul, was released in September 2022.
Blue’s manager, Paul DH Baylay, confirmed the ‘mystery’ health condition to Metro.co.uk, explaining in a statement: ’Simon has suffered from sciatica for a lengthy period that has needed ongoing medical treatment to alleviate the pain.
‘This treatment will include elective surgery over the next few weeks and is therefore ongoing.’
He added: ‘Simon would like to thank everyone for the kind words, thoughts and messages he has received over the last few days and is looking forward to being back on his feet soon.’
Dad-of-two Simon celebrated a quiet family Christmas at home, following the rigours of touring.
What is sciatca?
Sciatica is where the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back to your feet, becomes irritated or compressed.
According to the NHS website, it usually gets better in four to six weeks but can last longer.
Due to the location of the nerve, if you have sciatica you may feel pain, tingling, weakness or numbness in your bottom, back of your legs, feet and/or toes.
You can also experience back pain, but it won’t tend to be as bad.
The pain may be stabbing, burning or shooting.
Sciatica symptoms can also be worse when moving, sneezing or coughing.
He shared a sweet family photo on his Instagram grid with his wife Ayshen, who he married in 2018, and their little daughter Cyan, all dressed in tartan pyjamas to mark the day itself.
Simon is also dad to older daughter Alanah, 26, with former girlfriend Nicola Jones.
