Britney Spears has officially announced the publication of her memoir, and it will be required reading.
It’s been a long road for the 41-year-old and her admirers since she shot to popularity at the age of 16 with Baby One More Time in 1999.
Since then, the hashtag #FreeBritney has swept the internet in protest of her 13-year conservatorship, which is set to expire in 2021.
The complicated legal arrangement, which began in 2008, gave the icon’s father, Jamie Spears, power over her freedom and income.
It followed the Toxic singer’s highly publicised mental health meltdown in 2008, during which she famously shaved her head and lost custody of her youngsters.
However, while Britney has long been the focus of scandalous rumour and viral conjecture, little is known about the singer’s life in the previous two decades from her viewpoint.
Britney is finally revealing her world-famous tale on her “own terms” with the release of The Woman In Me on October 24 – and we can’t wait.
The Woman In Me will be published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, and is available to pre order now.
The description reads: ‘Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love – and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.’
Britney has resorted to social media to explain how she ‘worked her ass hard’ to get her book published, and did some major soul searching in the process.
The Gimme More singer claimed she had ‘a lot of therapy’ to finish the book and hoped fans enjoyed it.

In an Instagram video posted on Tuesday, Britney said: ‘Ok guys I just got finished with my book – it’s coming out very, very soon.
‘I worked my ass off for this book, I had a lot of therapy to get this book done, so you guys better like it.
‘And if you don’t, that’s cool too.’
The singer went on to say that she was going to the Bahamas to recover and unwind.
Spears’ book will discuss her appearance in court in 2021 and the ‘effect expressing her voice – her truth’ had.
According to US news source Page Six, the agreement with Simon & Schuster may be valued up to $15 million (£11 million).
The book’s announcement video, also posted to Instagram, reads: ‘It’s coming, my story, on my terms, at last. Are you ready?’
Oh yes we are, Britney!
The Woman In Me will be released on October 24.
