Bruce Springsteen had citizens of Dublin do double takes when he stopped in the Irish city to eat fish and chips and wash it down with a pint during his visit.
The 73-year-old is in Ireland to perform three sold-out gigs with his E Street Band at Dublin’s RDS Arena, but he couldn’t pass up the chance to visit a bar on his day off.
On Saturday, the rock star returned to The Long Hall bar on South Great George’s Street, which he had visited earlier in 2016.
For his unexpected visit, the Streets of Philadelphia hitmaker wore a flat cap, trench coat, and blue shirt while mingling with the residents.
Bruce was observed toasting a pint with another customer who was visiting from Aberystwyth, Wales.
The pub shared the image on social media writing: ‘Seven years on it was lovely to welcome back two regulars to the pub today!
‘One from Aberystwyth in Wales the other from New Jersey in the US. It’s the randomness that makes it so special. Slainte!’
Bruce next went to Leo Burdock in neighbouring Christchurch, clearly hungry after his stint at the boozer.
He surprised the workers by posing behind the counter with his order, and the photo quickly went viral on social media.
The post read: ‘Woohoo. The Boss stopped by our flagship Christchurch. Springsteen, amazing legend.’
The shop’s owner Charlie McGrachan later opened up on them visit, telling DublinLive: ‘When he comes to town, over the last 10 or 12 times, we’ve managed to get him in. He’s become a regular.
‘He’s such a nice guy. He’s great with any of the regular staff.
‘He has no problem letting people take photos of him. Just genuine. Real nice person.’
For those of you curious about what Bruce gets, Charlie said that his favourite dish is lemon sole with fries, while his band chooses cod and chips.
Bruce has also paid a visit to Shane MacGowan, the vocalist of The Pogues, who has lately been diagnosed with a multitude of health difficulties and was hospitalised between Christmas and New Year’s with the uncommon brain ailment encephalitis.
Writing about Shane and Bruce’s meeting on Twitter, Shane’s wife Victoria said: ‘What an amazing honour and a beautiful experience to get a visit from The Boss!!!’
She added: ‘Such a truly wonderful man and a total genius!’
