Charli XCX has announced her engagement to The 1975 drummer George Daniel!
The 31-year-old shared the good news on Instagram this evening, with a lovely montage and the caption: ‘charli xcx and george daniel f**king for life!!!’
In one shot, George is stroking the Boom Clap hitmaker while she kicks her leg in the air and leans backwards.
Another person noticed the ring in its box, next to two cups of coffee on a wooden bed-tray that also held a candle and some flowers.
The low-key yet lovely set-up appears to be the Chocolate hitmaker’s sweet gesture for the proposal. Awrh!
A third photo showed Charli, actual name Charlotte Emma Aitchison, laying on her lover while he struck an affectionate (and comically unattractive) stance with her close on his knee.
Paris Hilton commented on the image with a few thrilled emoticons, while Chicken Shop Date’s Amelia Dimoldenberg shared a ring and a jubilant, ‘yey!!!!!’
Denise Welch, who is the mother of The 1975’s lead singer Matty Healy, hailed the news the ‘bestannouncement ever’ and said she was ‘so happy’ for the couple.
Rita Ora didn’t seem shocked at all, as she commented: ‘How did I just know this was gonna happen. Yesssss.’
Fellow pop sensation Dua Lipa wrote: aaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!! LOVE THIS!!! congratulations lovebirds!!!!!’
Fans were buzzing at the announcement, as one commented: ‘Oh hell yeah. George better take your name. He’s George XCX now.’

Another wrote: ‘a national bank holiday !!!’
Some were really overwhelmed by the news, and apparently unlike Rita, not expecting it as one simply commented: ‘R U KIDDING ME.’
The Unlock It singer acknowledged their romance in May by sharing images of them on vacation together, however it is unclear how long they were romantically connected secretly.
They collaborated on Charli’s 2022 album, Crash, which debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200.
Prior to it, the couple met professionally in 2021 while working on the tune Spinning, a one-off collaboration with the dance-popstar, The 1975, and No Rome.
Daniel was most recently a co-producer and writer on the singer’s song, In the City, alongside Sam Smith.
