Fans of Chris Hemsworth have been astonished that his son does not refer to him as “dad,” prompting him to correct the record.
The Hollywood actress, 40, has nine-year-old twin sons Tristan and Sasha with wife Elsa Pataky, as well as an 11-year-old daughter India.
Chris, who was previously poised to play WWE superstar Hulk Hogan in a Netflix biopic, took to Instagram to share a video of himself fishing with his sons while on a family vacation in Fiji, where Tristan could clearly be heard not referring to his father as “dad.”
In fact, when the Extraction actor struggled to pull in a fish while grappling with his rod on the boat, Tristan could be heard yelling, ‘Come on, Chris. ‘Come on, keep fighting!’
‘Why is his son calling him Chris 🤔’ asked baffled fan Anthony Tierney in the comments section, and it seemed many others were equally surprised.
‘Came to ask same question… what happened to Dad?’ pondered Andrea Scott in response, while user @fabulouspio suggested: ‘I feel it’s just a banter moment between them. Nothing serious.’
However, Nina Gibson disagreed, posting: ‘Disrespect calling your father by his name at that age. I have always heard Chris call his father dad.’
Australians in Chris’s comments also suggested the reason, with Tamara Craig explaining: ‘It’s an Aussie thing I guess. Many of us do that.’
‘Yep it’s an Aussie thing,’ chimed in Laura Shakespeare. ‘My kinds do it all the time. I tell them off but they just laugh.’
Chris, on the other hand, seemed to notice the misunderstanding and jumped in to clarify what was going on with his name.
‘If your [sic] wondering why my son calls me Chris it’s because I’m his BFF and true mates don’t call each other dad,’ he wrote in the caption.
Alongside pictures of him and Elsa on the boat, and with Chris’s eventual catch, herevealed: ‘My son wanted to catch a fish for the locals in Fiji and after 3 attempts and about 12 hrs at sea we pulled in this beauty. Fed the village for 3 days.’
The daring actor has previously been hailed for ‘letting boys be boys’ by allowing his sons to undertake deadly feats on their dirt motorcycles – all under the watch of him and their Hunger Games co-star Liam, of course.
Among other feats on the motorised motorcycles, they performed wheelies and a stunt in which one laid on the ground while the other sped up a verge and leaped over him.

Chris’s chef recently revealed what went into the star’s incredibly rigorous diet, in addition to remaining quite active to stay in amazing form.
His incentive to eat properly extends beyond his film duties, since he just found he may be prone to Alzheimer’s during filming for his TV programme.
While filming Limitless with Chris Hemsworth last year, the actor had a genetic test and discovered he possessed a mutation that may lead to the disease.
